Mt Barker Baptist church was a great way to start the new year with Ross and Val's family. They had a great book corner with books and DVDs for sale. I could probably have bought them all, so I didn't buy anything, it was too hard to decide!
Lunch was yummy chicken fajitas, definately something I will try again! The kids are enjoying being inside a house, and having a Wii and a television, and Joseph is madly reading the latest Earagon book, which is massive, before we leave tomorrow.
Late in the afternoon we headed off to the swimming pool. The water was lovely and we had a great time swimming and reading. Towards the end Cooper was spinning himself around and around in his inflatable ring, and I think he made himself a bit sick, because he threw up watermelon all over himself and into the pool. I heaved him out onto the side of the pool, got him down to where we we sitting, then had to go and tell the lifeguard what had happened. They were very good about it, but I think people were a bit freaked out when they pulled out the scooping net, and some buckets of chlorine and told everyone to stay away from the end of the pool they were working on! I skulked away to my towel.
After dinner, Ross, Val, Grant, Jake and I headed over to Val's mum's house to water her garden while she is away, and shift some irrigation pipe on one of her paddocks. Val pointed out the house where the first Rankine's settled, Glenbarr. It is now a camping centre with lovely grounds and historic buildings.
Val and I watered the plants and the fruit trees until it was too dark to see. The irrigation pipe job was a bit larger than we thought, though, and Grant and
Ross were out in the paddock until 11.30pm. Grant very much enjoyed his few hours of farming!
