Carnarvon

DSC02090

Passing the Tropic of Capricorn on our way south

We packed up today from our camp at Nine Mile camp and headed further south to Carnarvon.  It took us a while to clear all the sand from the ground sheet and chairs and table - in fact it was quite a mess - but we got everything together and started out.

There hadn't been much for breakfast.  Grant made some porridge which tasted nice with apples and golden syrup (can you tell we have a few apples and lots of golden syrup and oats) and by lunch time everyone was very cranky.

We had planned to drive to Carnarvon in the morning and shop there for lunch, however what with packing taking longer than we thought, and Carnarvon being further than we thought, we had to come up with something to eat before the children started eating each other!

We found a rest stop and had the cup-a-soups I had brought from Brisbane, cold tinned spaghetti, cheese, and oranges.  Everyone was a lot happier when we climbed back into the car.

Carnarvon is a fruit and vegetable growing area.  We passed organic farms on the way into town, and someone I had met had told me to fill up with fresh produce while we were here.  Our first stop was the woolworths where we topped up on a lot more than just fruit and veg.

We have settled into the caravan park in town, showered and washed the clothes. It is very windy here also, but at least we don't have sand blowing all over everything.
